George Thompson
George Thompson was born in Wigan, but moved to Chester when he was eleven. He studied fine art (painting) at Chester School of Art and gained an art teacher's diploma at Liverpool College of art. Since then he has spent his time teaching painting in Chester and the Wirral.
He now lives in West Kirby, overlooking the estuary of the Dee . Here the constantly changing colours, textures and play of light on the water and wet sand, are a constant source of inspiration to him.
Every summer he combines a love of travel with a working holiday abroad, especially Venice and Tuscany and recently in Croatia , Corfu and Ireland. He has had one man exhibitions in Australia , Canada , USA and Japan and his paintings are in collections all over the world.
He has recently won prizes at the Pastel Society Exhibitions, at the Mall Galleries in London and the National Acrylic Painters Association Exhibition
